Why two new sheds? When we moved into our house, there was a little green and white striped shed at the bottom of the garden, which comfortably stored our gardening equipment. A little while later, the loft was turned into a workroom for Him. Later still, the spare bedroom became a workroom for Her. The garage became a workshop for heavy work for Him (workbench, drilling machine, vice, sawing and workmates etc.) as well as for general storage. As all these areas filled up, we bought another shed, which was located next to the first. For a while, all was well again.

Soon He started building projects that needed more space and access to tools and equipment that were stored in both the loft and the garage. This annoyed Him, especially as the loft is difficult to get into and is much more suited to occasional access. This, coupled to the fact that the garage started leaking and the windows started to fall out, prompted serious consideration. After a long period of deliberation it was decided to build a new, larger shed to replace the two at the bottom and replace the garage with a new workshop - both in timber. Planning took place over almost a decade, but in May 2015, prompted by a neighbour who was about to start a similar project, work started in earnest.
